Importing Prescription Drugs from Canada

I believe in free trade where there is a level playing field and support importation so long as certain requirements are met that guarantee safety as assure the import does not undermine U.S. trade companies through unfair trade practices.

Importing Prescription Drugs from Canada

There is no reason why American consumers should pay much more for the same drugs than our neighbors in Canada. Congress should direct the immediate creation of a program to regulate the safe importation of prescription drugs from Canada by licensed American pharmacists. There is broad bi-partisan support for this action.

Negotiating Pharmaceutical Prices

No

The Veterans Administration has worked to control the cost for providing health care to veterans by negotiating with drug companies for better prices. Astonishingly, Congress passed a law last year that prohibits Medicare from negotiating lower prescription drug prices. I will vote to repeal this nonsensical provision. This simple change would give Medicare the ability to negotiate a fair price and act as a prudent purchaser of prescription drugs - the same ability that every private health insurer already has.
