Positions and Views |
| Medically Uninsured or Underinsured |
To provide more Americans with insurance while protecting small businesses and low income workers from skyrocketing costs, my plan calls for Association Health Plans (AHP). Association Health plans allow small firms, farmers and ranchers, churches, Chambers of Commerce and other groups to combine forces, giving them the buying power they need to negotiate favorable insurance rates. | Medical Malpractice Lawsuit Limitations |
The booming trial laywer industry is fueling an increase in health care costs across the country. As a result of frivolous litigation, medical malpractice insurance premiums hve skyrocketed, giving physicians and hospitals little choice - leave the industry, increase the cost of service, and cheapen your care. As United States Senator, I will stop the cycle of litigation. Medical decisions should be made between the doctor and his patient - not the lawyer and his lawsuit. | Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) |
A sound health care policy should create new opportunity for consumers, provide greater choices and empower the customer to customize his or her health care plans to best fit their individual need. Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) are one such tool. Established as a kind of medical IRA, HSAs can improve the nation's health care delivery system by allowing individuals to have direct control over their health care dollars. | Business Tax Credits for Employee Health Coverage |
I support efforts that would allow workers to use tax credits to help purchase their own insurance coverage if their employers do not offer it. Source: Candidate Website (10/02/2004) |
