| Prescription Drugs, a General Statement |
Tancredo: Both the House of Representatives and the Senate have considered measures that would allow for the reimportation of FDA-approved pharmaceutical products from facilities outside the US into the US for personal use. I support this measure and believe that it will greatly reduce the amount of money Americans currently pay for their medication. Unfortunately, the reimportation of such drugs is currently allowed only if the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) certifies that it is safe and cost-efficient, which recent HHS Secretaries have failed to do. You can be confident, however, that I will continue pressing for the legalization of reimportation, and will be looking for other ways to help bring down the cost of prescription drugs.
